Peacemakers Finland hosts meetings for meditation and services three times a week at our Peacemaker Zendo in Helsinki (next to Sörnäinen metro station). When the weather allows, we will sit outside in the nearby park. No previous experience is needed. We begin with a short introduction to zazen (sitting meditation) for beginners. The kind of zazen we practice is formless meditation used in Japanese Soto Zen tradition.
Donation: €5 (optional)
Address: Hämeentie 27, Helsinki
Peacemakers Finland connects ancient contemplative teachings and practices with social action, nature and the Earth. Our intention is to support activistfrom various fields of action with contemplative practices, which can serve activists to deal with their tremendous tasks. We engage with practices to help us develop clarity, compassion, and courage, which are all needed to face our personal past, social challenges and humanity’s greatest challenge ever — the ecological crisis. Both individual and collective transformation are needed: meditation overcomes the delusion of separation that is at the root of individual and societal suffering, and practicing in nature deepens our understand of non-duality to encompass the earth, inspiring us to work for its healing as our own.
Zen meditation is always held at Peacemaker Zendo (Hämeentie 27, Helsinki). Meeting at the gate outside 5 minutes before beginning. When the weather allows, we will sit outside in the nearby park.
